Emmaus House
Serving woman and children since 1983
The Emmaus House was founded by the Sisters of St. Margaret in 1983. It is located on Kemble Street in the City of Utica and has provided temporary emergency shelter to over 12,000 women and children.
Many of the women come feeling alone and have lost their sense of trust in others. Emmaus House provides a warm, comfortable home-like environment for the women and children. Guests are provided not only shelter, but meals, toiletries, and the love and encouragement needed to rebuild their lives.
There are many ways in which to assist the work of Emmaus House. If you would like to make a donation to the House, you may do so by sending it to:
Saint Margaret’s Corporation
47 Jordan Road
New Hartford, NY 13413
Would you like to honor a loved one in a special way? Consider giving a gift to the House and we’ll send a note of your recognition to the person whom you’ve given the honor. We’ll also recognize the gift in our monthly newsletter. Want to make even more of an impact? Leave a legacy by remembering St. Margaret’s Corporation in your will.
Our Executive Director, Judith H. Reilly, will gladly sit with you to best match the needs of the houses with your passion. To reach Judy, please call the House at (315) 724-2324 or email her today.
Donations of household items are also always needed, as we like to be able to provide our guests with some of the items that they’ll need as they get established in their new homes. Items needed include; cleaning supplies, paper towels, washcloths, towels, sheets, curtains, silverware, dishes, mops, brooms, and buckets. Deodorant and other toiletries are also always needed. Thank you for your generosity!
Opportunities are available for internships as well. If you are interested in such an experience, please contact tcarnright@stmargaretshouseny.org.
